1960.(8)(a) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not furnish
employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized
hazards that were
causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to the of electrical shock, burns or electrocution due to the lack
of Ground Fault Circuit
Interrupter(GFCI) protection on circuits in wet locations(s) such as,
along the outside of Bldg
#148. Thirteen portable 120 volts battery charges are used on a daily
bases. Wet weather
exposes employees while connecting the battery charger cables to their EZ
Carts. Among other
methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct these
hazards is to install
GFCI protected outlets and/or circuit breakers on all receptacles and
equipment in required areas
per the National Electrical Code Section 210-8(a)(3):
a)Marine Corps Community Services: Thirteen EZ Go Cart battery chargers
are not
equipped with a ground-fault circuit-interrupter to protect personnel from
electrocution.
Battery chargers are located outside the Bldg. #148 and exposed to wet
weather.
