General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a recognized hazard of shock, burns and/or electrocution due to employee contact with exposed current carrying parts. a) P/V Pacific Producer: Employee(s) working in the fore peak storage room, port side, had occasion to use or work nearby two 120/240-volt circuit breaker boxes that were not equipped with a dead front. This condition exposed employee(s) to the potential hazard of shock, burns or electrocution. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct his hazard is purchase and install a new circuit breaker box with the dead front over all exposed electrical conductors. Pan Pacific Seafoods, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard or its equivalent standard which was contained in OSHA Inspection Number 107294472, Citation Number 1, Item Number 1, issued on 08/02/88.
