Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards of being crushed by falling suspended loads due to the failure of the hoisting line and/or hook attachment devices: a.Heat Treat Area - The Dayton Electric Hoist was not maintained in a safe condition due to a damaged hoisting line and inproperly installed hoisting hook. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to replace and properly maintain the hoisting line and ensure all connecting devices are installed properly.
