Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a.....the hazards of being burned from hot Dowtherm when lines and pumps are being repaired and/or when the line breaking operation is initiated. Two employees were severely burned when they attempted to repair a pump on September 22, 1994. The employer failed to enforce standard operating procedures to allow temperatures to fall to a safe level.atures
