Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fallling loads and/or lift parts. (a)Shop - Employees used a post frame contact, semi-hydraulic lift to elevate automobiles. An automatic mechanical device was not provided to hold the lift in the fully extended position at the rated load capacity, thus exposing employees to injury from being struck by falling loads and/or lift parts, on or about June 6, 2007. Among other methods,one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to provide an automatic mechanical device to hold the lift in the fully extended position at the rated load capacity.
