General-duty citation text
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a. Truck Shop - On or about October 26, 1998, the employees working in the Truck Repair Department were required to work under fully extended hydraulic lifts with defective safety locking devices and hydraulic leaks, thereby exposing the employees to the hazards of being struck by an industrial truck or caught between industrial truck and the floor in the event the lift mechanically and/or hydraulically failed. A feasible method of correcting the hazard is to conform to the specifications referenced in "ANSI/ALI ALOIM, Section 4.2 and 4.4.4/1994."
