Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of collapse: (a)Construction site at 1525 N. Eagle Rd.:On August 8, 2003, the controlling employer Hansen Construction, Inc. failed to ensure that its sub-contractor Shadow Mountain Framing, Inc. protected its employees, while taking measurements and preparing layout for sheeting activities on trusses that were not adequately braced. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to follow the guidelines set forth in HIB-91 summary sheet commentary and recommendations for handling, installing and bracing metal plate connected wood trusses published by the Truss Plate Institute.
