Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to of a tire exploding: a) 36 Meadow Ave, Wharton, NJ. The employer did not provide a special rim/wheel caliper to ensure the rim/wheel were not bent, thereby exposing the employee to a tire exploding. "Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to provide to employees the special rim/wheel caliper as per TMC RP 209B, Tire and Rim Safety Procedures Manual. Violation occurred on or about 10/30/03.
