General-duty citation text
P.L. 91-596 Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard(s) of: a)Grinding/Sanding Shop - The employer allowed employees to use compressed air to blow combustible fiberglass/resin dust from boats, pipes, beams, and structural members, which suspended in the air around electrical components such as but not limited to outlets, switches and fluorescent lights. A sample of the fiberglass/resin dust in the shop was analyzed and determined as a class II combustible dust. A feasible means of abatement would be to vacuum the room and equipment prior to blowdown using only low-pressure steam or compressed air, not exceeding a gauge pressure of 15 pounds per square inch.e
