Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing and/or struck-by hazards: (a) Throughout facility, areas including but not limited to paper roll storage, employees accessing, utilizing, traveling and/or working nearby storage rack systems with damaged support posts were exposed to crushing and/or struck-by hazards. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement would be to adhere to the system's manual, RMI and MHIA guidelines and/or ANSI MH16.1-2004: Specification for the Design, Testing and Utilization of Industrial Steel Storage Racks and repair or replace the damaged posts. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation are required for this item (see enclosed "Sample Abatement Certification Letter").
