Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees were exposed to being struck by suspending overhead loads as the employer did not conduct periodic, annual, inspections of the overhead under slung cranes to determine if any defects, maladjustments, or deterioration were present: a) Pouring area of the production floor. The overhead under slung cranes had not been inspected on a routine, annual, basis to determine if any deficiencies are present that could present a hazard to employees. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED Among other methods, feasible and acceptable methods to correct the hazardous condition may include: Following the requirements of the latest revision of the ASME standard for Monorails and Underhung Cranes, ASME B30.11.
