Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to dust explosion, deflagration, or other fire hazards from industrial vacuum being located inside a building.: a) An industrial vacuum system was installed to vacuum carbon black, a combustible dust, from the Green Carbon Reaction Chamber. The industrial vacuum was located inside the building and was not equipped with an explosion deflagration venting system, suppression system, or other protective means to prevent a combustible dust explosion. Employees who work in the area of the Reaction Chamber were exposed to explosion hazards associated with the rupturing of the Hurricane 500EM. The dust was analyzed and determined to be explosive. AMONG OTHER METHODS, A FEASIBLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO RELOCATE THE INDUSTRIAL VACUUM SYSTEM OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING. ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREDATION
