General-duty citation text
to his employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by hazards: (a)On or about 12/22/10 - 981 Mount Vernon Road, Boaz, AL, employees were exposed to struck-by hazards while rigging the excavator to lift the bulldozer blade. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to keep employees clear of the elevated bucket and boom and to keep visual contact with the operator, to train the operators not to operate the excavator when unable to see the employees, to focus on the task during rigging operations, and to engage brakes and/or other mechanisms to prevent the boom from moving while a load is being rigged to it, to ensure that the operational path of heavy equipment is clear prior to movement.
