Employees are exposed to crushing hazards from operating a forklift on a
ramp, and not having
a seatbelt to restrain them in case the forklift tips over. The Toyota
Forklift that travels on a
ramp that has an open side was not equipped with a seat belt.
Feasible methods of abatement include but are not limited to:
1. Contact Toyota, the manufacturer, concerning purchasing a seat belt
retrofit kit.
2. Install the seat belt.
3. Train operators on the proper use of the seat belt.
4. Conduct frequent inspections to ensure workers are using the seat belt.
5. Replace the old seat with one that has the seat belt hardware.
6) Purchase a new forklift
7) Do not use the forklift on the ramp
