29 CFR 1910.213(c)(3): Handfed ripsaw(s) did not have nonkickback fingers or dogs so located as to oppose the thrust or tendency of the saw to pick up the material or to throw it back toward the operator: (a)Alpine Custom Door & Millwork, Inc., at 2842 Chipeta Ave., Grand Junction, CO 81502: The two Delta table saws in the shop are used for ripping and were not equipped with nonkickback fingers or dogs. This condition exposed the employees to an amputation and kickback hazard. Abatement Note: To properly guard the saw the nonkickback fingers or dogs shall be located as to oppose the thrust or tendency of the saw to pick up the material or to throw it back toward the operator. They shall be designed to provide adequate holding power for all the thicknesses of materials being cut. Alpine Custom Door & Millwork, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of is occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent 29 CFR 1910.213(c)(1) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 98166, citation number 1, item 3(a), issued September 7, 2011 and became a final order on September 28, 2011, with respect to a workplace located at 2842 Chipeta Ave., Grand Junction, CO 81502.
