29 CFR 1910.178(q)(7): Industrial trucks were not examined before being placed in service, and were placed in service when the examination showed a condition adversely affecting the safety of the vehicle. a) Receiving area: on 1/23/2012 and at times prior thereto, Hyster forklift # 272 was in service with a drip pan wired underneath that reduced the ground clearance of the vehicle. b) Receiving area: on 1/23/2012 and at times prior thereto, Caterpillar forklift # 277 had a significant motor oil leak that could lead to slip and fall injuries, increased fire hazards, and unsafe operation caused by oil on floors and tires was placed in service by maintenance. Note: Abatement certification IS required for this item.
