29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding were not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices,electronic safety devices, etc: (a) In the tech room on or about May 24, 2012, and at times prior thereto, there was no guard for the chuck and bit on a Delta Shop Master drill press, model number DP 350, serial number 201001-XL006259. The press was used to drill through steel pipes and wood. (b) In the off site shop on or about May 24, 2012, and at times prior thereto, there was no guard for the chuck and bit on a Dayton 17 inch drill press, model number 3Z918E. The press was used to drill wood.
