Conductors entering boxes, cabinets, or fittings shall be protected from abrasion, and openings through which conductors enter shall be effectively closed. Unused openings in cabinets, boxes, and fittings shall also be effectively closed. a. On the first floor of the building, there was an unused opening on the temporary electrical panel located in the main corridor, thereby exposing employees to a contact hazard.

29 CFR 1926.405(g)(2)(iv): Strain relief. Flexible cords shall be connected to devices and fittings so that strain relief is provided which will prevent pull from being directly transmitted to joints or terminal screws. a. On the third floor corridor, the strain relief on the plug and cord for the temporary lighting was separated, exposing interior wire insulation, exposing employees to a contact hazard.
