The steps measured 48 inches wide.

29 CFR 1910.37(b)(2): Each exit was not clearly visible and marked by a sign reading "Exit":      a)  National Park Service Whiskeytown National Recreation Area Oak Bottom Fire Station - On or about June 25, 2012 and at times prior thereto, the:    1)  Crew locker rooms designated exit door was not marked by a sign indicating it was the designated exit.  Three other unmarked doors were present in the room that could be confused for a designated exit delaying exit in an emergency.    2)  Crew Conference Room designated exit door was not marked by a sign indicating it was the designated exit.  Three other doors were present in the room that could be confused for a designated exit delaying exit in an emergency.     3)  Fire Cache's designated exit door was not marked by a sign reading "Exit".  No windows are in the cache and if electricity went out exit is not apparent.    b)  National Park Service Whiskeytown National Recreation Area Oak Bottom Fire Management Office - On or about June 25, 2012 and at times prior thereto, the Oak Bottom Fire Management Office's designated exit door was not marked by a sign indicating it was the designated exit.  One other door to the outside existed, but was not the designated exit door.  At least two other doors are directly adjacent to the designated exit and could be confused with the exit door in an emergency.

Designated exit door was not marked with a sign stating it is the "Exit" and in an emergency, other doors could be mistaken for the designated exit door.
