No Exit sign on the door to the exterior of the building was in the line of sight from the hallway.

29 CFR 1910.37(b)(4): If the direction of travel to the exit or exit discharge is not immediately apparent, signs must be posted along the exit access indicating the direction of travel to the nearest exit and exit discharge. Additionally, the line-of-sight to an exit sign must clearly be visible at all times:      a)  U.S. Forest Service Lassen National Forest: Forest Headquarters - On or about June 27, 2012 and at times prior thereto, a directional exit sign was not located along the designated exit acces route from rooms 199, 200, 201 and restrooms located in the area directing employees south to a designated exit hallway (running East).      b)  U.S. Forest Service Lassen National Forest: Forest Headquarters - On or about June 27, 2012 and at times prior thereto, a directional exit sign was not located along the designated exit acces route from rooms 199, 200, 201 and the restrooms directing employees to turn into a hallway to the right from the halfway running between rooms 183 and 193 and proceed down the GIS hallway.  Without the sign, Employees would proceed to the intersection of another hallway rather than turn to access the nearest exit.    c)   U.S. Forest Service Lassen National Forest: Forest Headquarters - On or about June 27, 2012 and at times prior thereto, a directional exit signs were not located at the south end of the GIS hallway at the water fountain directing employees to turn to the right and then the left to continue along the designated exit route when the line of sight to the exit was not clearly visible.    d)   U.S. Forest Service Lassen National Forest: Forest Headquarters - On or about June 27, 2012 and at times prior thereto, a directional exit sign(s) were not located along the designated exit access route at the four corners area (safety poster hallway) indicating the direction to the nearest designated exit route/exit access.  Three hallways run along the area and the direction of travel to the nearest exit is unclear and not within line of sight.  Employees could take a wrong hallway and move further away from the exit in an emergency.
