29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): 29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1) Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.652(b) or (c): a) On or about 8/15/12 at a water line project located near 10485 Route 62, North Collins, New York; an employee was connecting two sections of water pipe in a trench that was approximately 48" wide and between 5'2" and 6'0" in depth. The trench had vertical side walls and there was no trench shield in use to protect against cave-in. NO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
