29 CFR 1926.651(i)(3): Sidewalks, pavements and appurtenant structure shall not be undermined unless a support system or another method of protection is provided to protect employees from the possible collapse of such structures.out On or about August 22,2012 at the above addressed jobsite, employees were installing a sewer line in a trench below pavement which was undercut, thereby exposing the employees to cave in hazards. Abatement certification is required of this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c).

29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation shall be protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with paragraph (b) or (c) of this section: On or about August 22, 2012, at the above addressed jobsite, employees were installing a sewer line in a trench measured at ten (10) feet five (5) inches in depth. The trench was not provided with adequate cave in protection, thereby exposing the employees to the hazards associated with cave ins. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).

On or about August 22, 2012, at the above addressed jobsite, employees were installing a sewer line in a trench measured at ten (10) feet five (5) inches in depth. The trench shield was not installed to prevent lateral movement, thereby exposing the employees to the hazards associated with cave ins. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
