29 CFR 1910.23(a)(9): Every floor hole into which persons cannot accidentally walk (on account of fixed machinery, equipment or walls) shall be protected by a cover that leaves no openings more than 1 inch wide. The cover shall be securely held in placee to prevent tools or maerials from falling through: a) Mount Vernon Mills-Finishing Department: The employer did not ensure that the floor area near FR #7 range was safe for employees. An approximately 3 inch opening existed where employees work and walk in the area, creating a tripping and falling hazard.
