29 CFR 1926.453(b)(2)(iv): Employees shall always stand firmly on the floor of the basket, and shall not sit or climb on the edge of the basket or use planks, ladders, or other devices for a work position. As observed on or about 10-30-2012, at 1801 North Federal Highway, Building Number 2, Boca Raton, Florida, an employee was observed climbing on the rails of an aerial lift to access a roof, thus exposing the employee to a 30 foot fall.

29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. As observed on or about 10-30-2012, at 1801 North Federal Highway, Building Number 2, Boca Raton, Florida, an employee was exposed to a fall hazard of approximately 30 feet to the ground when working at the edge of the roof without any means of fall protection.
