29 CFR 1910.242(a): Hand and portable powered tools or equipment were not kept in safe condition: At this location at the loading dock, employees were cleaning with a high pressure (approximately 80 psi) and high temperature water (approximately 145 degrees farenheit) hose and nozzle. The hose nozzle was not equipped with a safety cut-off or "deadman" switch to prevent injury if an employee were to lose control of the hose. In the Alternative: OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by and the hazards of thermal burns:
