OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards:    (a) The stairways in houses 11 and 12 were not provided with standard stair rails, exposing employees to fall hazards. One feasible and acceptable method of abatement is to install standard stair rails along the open sides of all stairs in the egg laying houses in accordance with ANSI A1264.1 (Safety Requirements for Workplace Floor and Wall Openings, Stairs and Railing Systems) paragraph 5.5.             (b) Employees were exposed to fall hazards of seven feet when overhead rollup doors located on the upper levels of the egg laying houses were open.  One feasible and acceptable method of abatement is to install standard guard rails along the wall openings outside of the doors on the upper level of the egg laying houses in accordance with ANSI A1264.1 (Safety Requirements for Workplace Floor and Wall Openings, Stairs and Railing Systems) paragraph 4.    Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date.  The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
