29 CFR 1910.138(a): The employer did not select and require employee(s) to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasions; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes: Anheuser-Busch Inc, dba Anheuser-Busch Sales Company of Denver, at 1455 E 62nd Street, Denver, CO: On and preceding 3/13/13, Anheuser-Busch Sales Company of Denver did not select and require employees to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances or chemical burns. Line Cleaners used Applied Cleaning Technologies Draftec Beer Line Cleaner (containing 26-98% sodium hydroxide) to clean beer tap lines at bars. Employees were provided Ansell Conform latex medical exam type gloves to use when mixing Draftec Beer Line Cleaner with water, and when using the solution to flush the beer tap lines. Medical exam type gloves do not provide adequate protection from hazardous chemicals, including corrosive liquids. The employer did not provide appropriate hand protection. This condition exposed employees to a chemical burn hazard.

29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use: Anheuser-Busch Inc, dba Anheuser-Busch Sales Company of Denver, at 1455 E 62nd Street, Denver, CO: On and preceding 3/13/13, Anheuser-Busch Sales Company of Denver did not ensure that where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were provided within the work area for immediate emergency use. Employees added water to lead acid batteries for the Hyster battery powered powered industrial trucks. This was done in the former battery charging area. Sulfuric acid is a corrosive liquid. The nearest accessible emergency eyewash to the area where employees filled the batteries was located in the warehouse near the loading dock. The distance was approximately one hundred feet from the work area along a route traveled by powered industrial trucks. The employer did not ensure that suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were located within the battery filling work area. This condition exposed employees to a chemical burn hazard.

29 CFR 1910.1200(g)(8): The employer did not ensure that Material Safety Data Sheets were readily accessible to the employees in their work area during each work shift: Anheuser-Busch Inc, dba Anheuser-Busch Sales Company of Denver, at 1455 E 62nd Street, Denver, CO: On and preceding 3/13/13 Anheuser-Busch Sales Company of Denver did not ensure that Material Safety Data Sheets were readily accessible to the employees in their work area during each work shift, in that Material Safety Data Sheets were obtainable through a fax on demand system maintained by 3E Company. The employer did not have hard copies of MSDS's for all chemicals located in the workplace. The employer did not verify that 3E Company had MSDS's for all chemicals in Anheuser-Busch's workplace. The employer did not ensure that a back-up system was in place for access to MSDS's in the event of a phone line failure, power failure, or other emergency that did not allow employee access to the 3E Company system. Employees work with chemicals, including but not limited to the following: 1. Carbon dioxide; 2. Applied Cleaning Technologies Draftec Beer Line Cleaner (containing sodium hydroxide); 3. Clorox bleach (containing sodium hypochlorite); 4. Cyclo Glass Cleaner; 5. Bakers and Chefs Safe Heat 6 Hour Chafing Dish Fuel; 6. Rimula Super SAE 15W-40 motor oil; 7. Shell Retinax Grease LX2; 8. Nitrogen; and 9. Shell Mercon/Dexron III transmission fluid. This condition potentially exposed employees to a chemical hazard.
