29 CFR 1910.1030(g)(2)(viii): The person conducting the bloodborne pathogen training was not knowledgeable in the subject matter covered by the elements contained in the training program as it related to the workplace that the training would address: Jobsite-The bloodborne pathogens training was conducted by the Housekeeping Supervisor, a custodian professional. There was no evidence that this individual had been provided anything more than a general overview of bloodborne pathogens via a Power Point Presentation. Methods to demonstrate subject knowledge, such a but not limited to, specialized training in epidemiology and transmission modes and symptoms had not been given to him, which would allow him to conduct competent, interactive discussions with trainees. (OSHA Interpretation Letter dated January 17, 2008) Abatement certification is required for this citation. The certification sheet is enclosed with the citation.
