29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Where portable ladders were used for access to upper landing surfaces, the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface to which the ladders were used to gain access. On March, 27 2013 at a worksite located at 1639 Colchester Lane Aurora, IL employees was accessing the roof by an extension ladder that was not three feet above the landing. The employees were exposed to fall hazards while accessing the roof. Abatement certification is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903(c).

29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13): Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels were not protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system. On March, 27 2013 at a worksite located at 1639 Colchester Lane Aurora, IL employees were installing a new roof. The employees were not utilizing fall protection and exposed to a fall of approximately 10.9-12.6 feet. Custom Roofing Contracting, LTD was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.501 (b)(13) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 107764, citation number 1, item number 3b and was affirmed as a final order on December 7, 2011, with respect to a workplace located at 21858 Talia, Deer Park, IL 60010. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903(d).
