OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a) M & W Construction, Inc. on or about May 31, 2013, at the address of 520 W. Spring St. Lima, OH: The employer did not ensure sufficient and correctly installed temporary bracing was applied to the 64 ft. 3 in. scissor trusses erected onsite, exposing employees to struck-by hazards. One feasible means of abatement to is to install temporary bracing as outlined in the 2008 Building Component Safety Information (BCSI): Guide to Good Practice for Handling, Installing, Restraining & Bracing of Metal Plate Connected Wood Trusses. Produced jointly by the Wood Truss Council and the Truss Plate Institute, Section B2-Truss Installation and Temporary Restraint/Bracing.
