The battery (or compartment) cover(s) was not open to dissipate heat. a) At the battery charging areas located at the East Hill Ave site, on or about July 16, 2013 and at times prior to, employees did not open the powered industrial truck battery compartments while the batteries were charging, resulting in a fire hazard. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED.

29 CFR 1910.178(l)(3)(i)(K): Powered industrial truck operators did not receive initial training on refueling and/or charging and recharging of batteries a) At the battery charging areas located at the East Hill Ave site, on or about July 16, 2013 and at times prior to, the employer failed to ensure that employees were trained in safe operations including but not limited to opening the powered industrial truck battery compartments while the batteries were charging, resulting in a fire hazard. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED.
