29 CFR 1910.1000(a)(2): Employee(s) were exposed to an airborne concentration of Silver (metal and soluble compounds as Ag) listed in Table Z-1 in excess of the  .01 milligram per cubic meter as an 8 hour Time Weighted Average concentration:    Silver Powder Production Areas:  The following employees were exposed to silver in excess of the eight hour time weighted average permissible exposure limit (PEL) of .01 milligrams per cubic meter:      A.  On 1/24/14 an employee engaged in batching operations was monitored for silver for 339 minutes.  This employee was exposed to .043 milligrams per cubic meters, which is approximately 2.9 times the PEL.  A zero exposure level was considered for the remaining 141 minutes of the eight hour work day.  Refer to OSHA 91 # 169063.      B.  On 1/24/14 an employee engaged in material handling operations was monitored for silver for 362 minutes.  This employee was exposed to .784 milligrams per cubic meters, which is approximately 59 times the PEL.  A zero exposure level was considered for the remaining 118 minutes of the eight hour work day.  Refer to OSHA 91 # 169059.      C.  On 1/24/14 an employee engaged in material handling operations was monitored for silver for 461minutes.  This employee was exposed to .575  milligrams per cubic meters, which is approximately 55 times the PEL.  A zero exposure level was considered for the remaining 19 minutes of the eight hour work day.  Refer to OSHA 91 # 169058.      D.  On 1/24/14 an employee engaged in screening operations was monitored for silver for 429 minutes.  This employee was exposed to .183  milligrams per cubic meters, which is approximately 16.3 times the PEL.  A zero exposure level was considered for the remaining 51 minutes of the eight hour work day.  Refer to OSHA 91 # 169062.      E.  On 1/24/14 an employee engaged in screening operations was monitored for silver for 352  minutes.  This employee was exposed to .106  milligrams per cubic meters, which is approximately 7.6 times the PEL.  A zero exposure level was considered for the remaining 128 minutes of the eight hour work day.  Refer to OSHA 91 # 169060.      Technic, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 314918657, citation number 01, item number 001(a) and was affirmed as a final order on 10/31/11, with respect to a workplace located at 300 Park East Ave. Woonsocket, RI 02895.

29 CFR 1910.1000(e): Feasible administrative or engineering controls were not determined and implemented to achieve compliance with the limits prescribed in 29 CFR 1910.1000(a) through (d):    Silver Powder Production Areas:  Where employees were exposed to silver in excess of the eight hour time weighted average permissible exposure limit (PEL) of .01 milligrams per cubic meter, adequate engineering or administrative controls were not implemented.      A.  On 1/24/14 an employee engaged in batching operations was monitored for silver for 339 minutes.
