The volume of this material led to an explosion hazard that doused and hospitalized an employee.

29 CFR  1910.1200(d)(3)(ii): When classifying mixtures they produced or imported, chemical manufacturers and importers of mixtures relied on the information provided on the current safety data sheets of the individual ingredients when the chemical manufacturer or importer knew or in the exercise of reasonable diligence should have known, that the safety data sheet misstated or omitted information required by 29 CFR 1910.1200.   Production Area - On or about 02/01/2023, the employer maintained and distributed a Safety Data Sheet  for the Nickel Stripper ZC which consists of two incompatible materials, Acetic and Nitric acid. This incompatibility of the two compounds inevitably led to the chemical explosion of a 44 gallon batch.

29 CFR  1910.1200(g)(5): Upon becoming newly aware of significant information regarding the hazards of a chemical, or ways to protect against the hazards the chemical manufacturer, importer or employer did not add it to the safety data sheet within three months.  Company Wide - On or about 02/01/2023, the employer experienced a chemical explosion that originated from the incompatibility of the chemicals used to create the Nickel Stripper ZC. The incompatibility of this material led to an explosion hazard where 44 gallons of stored batch product exploded. The employer did not add the chemical incompatibility hazard to the safety data sheet.
