OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards, such as caught-between hazards, that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were inadequately trained regarding the locations and types of energy sources whine performing routine, repetitive and integral tasks. (a) On and about February 10, 2014, the employer did not implement effective verification methods to ensure that employees working as top side operators on palletizer machines were adequately trained regarding the locations and types of energy sources while engaged in clearing routine jams at the case turner pneumatic arm location. Abatement Note: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement is to design and implement a system for verification of training to ensure that palletizer top side operators are able to demonstrate proper emergency stop procedures and the proper methodology to block and release air while clearing routine jams that meet the routine, repetitive and integral criteria set forth in ANSI Z244.1.
