29 CFR 1910.24(h): "Railings and handrails." Standard railings shall be provided on the open sides of all exposed stairways and stair platforms. Handrails shall be provided on at least one side of closed stairways preferably on the right side descending. Stair railings and handrails shall be installed in accordance with the provisions of 1910.23. (a) In the wash area of the powder coating area: The mixing tank of the wash area has a set of fixed stairs that exposed employees to fall from hazard by not providing a hand rail on the open side, a mid-rail on all sides. It also had a trip hazard on the bottom step a 5 inch angle iron step over five inches out from the bottom.

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices,electronic safety devices, etc. (a) C&C area: Employees were exposed to three Delta industrial drill presses which did not have adjustable guards to cover the unused portions of the bits and chucks above the materials being worked on. (b) C&C area: Drill press on right side of machines as coming down off dock from offices had a missing piece of pulley belts guard on top of the drill press exposing employees to pinch point hazard.

29 CFR 1910.305(b)(1)(ii): Unused openings in cabinets, boxes, and fittings shall be effectively closed. (a) Dock area just outside the front offices next to the Safety Glasses required sign is an electrical box that at the time of the inspection had an open knock out hole exposing employees to electrically energized conductors. (b) Electrical Power Panel Behind the Fork Lift battery charging station: Employees were exposed to electrically energized conductors on the 480V power panel as at the time of the inspection it was missing two switch hole covers.

29 CFR 1910.305(g)(2)(iii): Flexible cords and cables shall be connected to devices and fittings so that strain relief is provided that will prevent pull from being directly transmitted to joints or terminal screws. (a) in automated powder coating part hanging room: the 36 inch floor fan's cord connected to the wall was strained exposing employees to the energized conductors of the cord.
