Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to thermal burns and the employer did not ensure that steam pipes were covered to prevent employees from making contact with the bare pipes: a) Cook Area, bean kettles: On or about December 04, 2014, employees were exposed to thermal burns from the approximately 1" unprotected branch steam pipes that ran horizontally along the elevated working platform in front of the kettles. b) Cook Area, bean kettles: On or about December 04, 2014, employees were exposed to thermal burns from the approximately 3" unprotected main steam pipes, which feed into the branch steam pipes, that ran vertically behind kettle #1.
