29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with paragraph (b) or (c) of this section: a) Littleton residence: on or about January 22, 2015, and at times prior, a worker was exposed to cave-in hazards while in a 9.7 feet deep excavation measuring 41 inches by 80 inches with only one GME hydraulic shore set installed between the 80 inch faces which is not consistent with applicable tabulated data. b) Littleton residence: on or about January 22, 2015, and at times prior, a worker was exposed to cave-in hazards while in a 9.7 feet deep excavation measuring 41 inches by 80 inches with no vertical end shores installed to protect each 41 inch face from caving in which is not consistent with applicable tabulated data. Abatement Note: Abatement certification is required for this item (see enclosed Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet).
