29 CFR 1926.760(a)(1): Except as provided by paragraph (a)(3) of this section, each employee engaged in a steel erection activity who is on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge more than 15 feet (4.6 m) above a lower level shall be protected from fall hazards by guardrail systems, safety net systems, personal fall arrest systems, positioning device systems or fall restraint systems. a. On or about July 10, 2015, at the above addressed jobsite, employees conducting decking operations were exposed to falls of approximately twenty-two (22') feet created by the presence of unprotected sides and edges. The Imperial Construction Associates, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.760(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 898340, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on June 18, 2013, with respect to a workplace located at 555 31st Street, Downers Grove, IL 60515.
