OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): OSH ACT of 1970 Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to an explosion hazard. On 8-4-2015 at the site of this employer, an explosion occurred in the Metal Services Building when a molten aluminum furnace failed and molten aluminum found a path to water. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazardous condition would be to remove damaged furnaces from service prior to failure and release of molten metal.
