29 CFR 1926.102(a)(1): Eye and face protective equipment were not used when machines or operations present potential eye or face injury from physical, chemical, or radiation agents: a. Employees performing roofing work are not protected from eye injuries while using pneumatic nail guns. The employer routinely fails to assure effective protection against eye and face injuries as required by the standard, as demonstrated on September 30, 2015, when employees are working on a residential roof at 3524 Waverly Dock Road, Jacksonville Florida without eye protection while using pneumatic nail guns and were exposed to eye injuries from flying debris or nails. Jasper Contractors, Inc. previously committed a serious violation of this standard on September 23, 2014, with respect to a workplace at 355 Silent Brook Trial, Jacksonville Florida which became a final order on February 18, 2016 (Inspection No. 976501). Jasper Contractors, Inc. previously committed a repeat-serious violation of this standard on August 28, 2014, with respect to a workplace at 11760 Heather Grove Lane, Jacksonville Florida which became a final order on February 18, 2016 (Inspection No. 992409). Employees performing roofing work on a roof six feet or more above the ground are not protected from fall hazards by a fall protection system. The employer routinely fails to assure effective protection against falls as required by the standard, as demonstrated on September 30, 2015, when employees were working on a residential roof at 3524 Waverly Dock Road, Jacksonville Florida without fall protection and were exposed to falls of approximately 8 feet. Jasper Contractors, Inc. previously committed a repeat-serious violation of this standard on December 2, 2014, with respect to a workplace at 3301 Shelley Drive, Green Cove Springs, Florida which became a final order on February 18, 2016 (Inspection No. 1011179).
