29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13): Each employee(s) engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels were not protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system, nor were employee(s) provided with an alternative fall protection measure under another provision of paragraph 1926.501 (b): a. Employees performing roofing work from steep pitch roof are not being protected from 8 feet 7 inches fall hazards by a fall protection system. The employer fails to assure effective protection against falls as required by the standard, as demonstrated on December 16, 2015, when employees were installing shingles on the roof of a one-story residence at 32157 Juniper Parke Dr. (Lot. 158), Fernandina Beach, Florida 32034 without fall protections and were exposed to fall hazards of 8 feet 7 inches above the surrounding ground. Coastal Building Systems of Amelia, Inc. previously committed a Repeat violation of this standard with an 11(b) warning on August 18, 2012, when employees were performing roofing work at 279 St. Croix Island Dr., Saint Augustine, Florida 32092, which became a Final Order on December 5, 2012. The employer routinely fails to assure effective protection against eye and face injuries as required by the standard, as demonstrated on December 16, 2016, when employees are working on a residential roof at 32157 Juniper Parke Drive, Fernandina Beach Florida without eye protection while using pneumatic nail guns and were exposed to eye injuries from flying debris or nails. Coastal Building Systems of Amelia, Inc. previously committed a Repeat violation of this standard with an 11(b) warning on June 21, 2012, when employees were performing roofing work at 708 Castledale Court, Saint Johns, Florida 32259, which became a Final Order on October 19, 2012.
