29 CFR 1910.219(e)(1)(i): Where both runs of horizontal belts are seven (7) feet or less from the floor level, the guard shall extend to at least fifteen (15) inches above the belt or to a standard height, except that where both runs of a horizontal belt are 42 inches or less from the floor, the belt shall be fully enclosed in accordance with paragraphs (m) and (o) of this section: a. In the sawmill, there was an opening which measured 41 inches by six inches, in the bottom of the guard to the gear box of the re-saw conveyor, thereby exposing employees to a caught-in hazard from the unguarded belts and pulleys. b. In the sawmill, there was a guard missing from the back of the edger which measured 4 1/2 inches by 57 inches, thereby exposing employees to a caught-in hazard from unguarded belts and pulleys. The Millwood Lumber Company was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard ,29 CFR 1910.219(e)(1)(i), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1010592, citation number 1, item number 3 and was affirmed as final order on March 13, 2015, with respect to a workplace located at 2400 Larson Road SE, Gnadenhutten, Ohio 44629.

Construction, operation, and maintenance of conveyors shall be in accordance with American National Standard B20.1-1957, which is incorporated by reference as specified in Sec. 1910.6: a. In the sawmill where employees were feeding boards into the trim saw, they were exposed to a pinch point when reaching into the area where the chain went over the conveyor, thereby exposing them to a caught-in hazard. The Millwood Lumber Company was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, 29 CFR 1910.265(c)(18)(I), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1010592, citation number 1, item number 4 and was affirmed as final order on March 13, 2015, with respect to a workplace located at 2400 Larson Road SE, Gnadenhutten, Ohio 44629.
