29 CFR 1910.132(a): Protective equipment was not used when necessary whenever hazards capable of causing injury and impairment were encountered:  a) ATI Specialty Materials, Inc., Lockport, NY, ESR Pit Area - On or about 11/17/15 and continuing, the employer did not ensure employees working in the pit area, who are exposed to steam and hot water when stripping the ESR furnaces, were provided with personal protective equipment, such as suitable thermal suits, to protect them from these hazards.  On 11/17/15 an employee sustained second degree burns to their arms, legs, and abdomen when they were sprayed with steam and hot water while stripping a furnace.  ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
