Employees performing siding operations on steep-pitched roofs at elevations are not being protected from a 10-foot 2-inch fall hazard by use of a fall protection system. The Heritage & Son Company was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.501(b)(13), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1078397, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on September 3, 2015, with respect to a workplace located at Prominence Phase One North, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida 32459.

29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Where portable ladders were used for access to an upper landing surface and the ladder's length allows, the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface being accessed: a. Employees are using 12-foot aluminum ladder to access a roof improperly, in that the ladders are not being extended 3 feet over the eave nor was secured from slippage. The Heritage & Son Company was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.1053(b)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1049184, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on September 3, 2015, with respect to a workplace located at 35 grayling Way, Lot 5, Inlet Beach, Florida 32413.
