29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1): The employer shall assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). a. In the perishable food aisles 39-42 a special project of moving sections of racking was performed. The employer did not perform a hazard assessment to determine the hazards that were present, or likely to be present, such as but not limited to, hazards of lifting sections of racking overhead that would necessitate head protection. b. The employer did not perform a hazard assessment to identify the hazards that were present, or likely to be present for the maintenance employees to determine the need for personal protective equipment while performing maintenance activities throughout the facility.
