29 CFR 1910.215(b)(9): The distance between the abrasive wheel periphery(s) and the adjustable tongue or the end of the safety guard peripheral member at the top exceeded one fourth inch: (a) On or about July 6, 2016, the employer exposed employees to struck-by and caught-in hazards due to following bench grinders tongue guards exceeding one fourth inch; (1) A Palmgren bench grinder, located in the shop area had a tongue guard which was in excess of one fourth inch. (2) A Jet bench grinder, located in AMC & Advance Machine Center had a tongue guard which was in excess of one fourth inch. Abatement Note: Abatement certification is required for this item (see enclosed "Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet").
