What this inspection record means

OSHA opens inspections for many reasons: routine scheduling under a national or local emphasis program, an employee complaint or referral, or a follow-up after a reported injury. Opening or conducting an inspection is not itself an allegation or a finding that this employer broke any rule; any findings appear as the citations listed below, and citations can be contested, reduced, or withdrawn.

29 CFR 1910.1000(a)(2): Employee(s) were exposed to an airborne concentration of particulate not otherwise regulated (PNOR, total dust) listed in Table Z-1 in excess of the 8 hour Time Weighted Average (TWA) concentration of 15 mg/m3: a) At the Plant 1, Line 3, a Production Operator was exposed to PNOR (total dust) at a level of 18.9 mg/m3 as an 8-hour TWA on July 12, 2016, approximately 1.3 times the PEL of 15 mg/m3. This exposure was determined by air sampling conducted over 244 minutes with zero exposure being assumed for the unsampled 236 minutes of an 8-hour work shift. b) At the Plant 1, Line 3, a Production Operator was exposed to PNOR (total dust) at a level of 34.3 mg/m3 as an 8-hour TWA on July 12, 2016, approximately 2.3 times the PEL of 15 mg/m3. This exposure was determined by air sampling conducted over 241 minutes with zero exposure being assumed for the unsampled 239 minutes of an 8-hour work shift. c) At the Plant 1, Line 3, a Production Operator was exposed to PNOR (total dust) at a level of 18.2 mg/m3 as an 8-hour TWA on July 12, 2016, approximately 1.2 time the PEL of 15 mg/m3. This exposure was determined by air sampling conducted over 240 minutes with zero exposure being assumed for the unsampled 240 minutes of an 8-hour work shift.
