29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems: a) roof of DonJon Shipbuilding and Repair, 220 East Bayfront Parkway in Erie, PA. On or about September 15, 2016, and times prior thereto, employees performing painting and other work tasks were not protected from falling in that they were not attached to a complete personal fall arrest system. Other fall protection devices such as safety nets and guardrails were not used as a means of protection. Employees were exposed to a fall of 100 feet while working on top of the roof of the building.
