A & D Wood Products, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard 1910.22(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 108854, citation number 1,  item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on May 3, 2012 with respect to a workplace located at 112 Ward Street Elida, Ohio 45807.      A & D Wood Products, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard 1910.22(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 993582, citation number 2,  item number 1a and was affirmed as a final order on May 9, 2016 with respect to a workplace located at 112 Ward Street Elida, Ohio 45807.      To abate this hazard, minimally, the employer must implement a housekeeping program to ensure saw dust and wood debris is removed on a regular basis so as to not pose a fire hazard.  Guidance for the development and implementation of a safe and effective housekeeping program can be found in the  National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards NFPA 664 "Standard for the Prevention of Fires and Explosions in Wood Processing and Woodworking Facilities" and NFPA 652 "Standard on the Fundamentals of Combustible Dust".  It may also be necessary for the employer to ensure that dust generated from woodworking operations is captured at the source and collected through the implementation of an exhaust ventilation system installed in accordance with recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices such as, but not limited to, the principles and guidelines of the National Fire Protection Associations (NFPA) standards NFPA 664 "Standard for the Prevention of Fires and Explosions in Wood Processing and Woodworking Facilities" and NFPA 91 "Standard for Exhaust Systems for Air Conveying of Vapors, Gases, Mists, and Particulate Solids".

A & D Wood Products, Inc. was previously cited for a violation  of an equivalent  Occupational Safety and Health Standard 1910.307(c)(2)(i), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 993582, citation number 1, item 12 and was affirmed as a final order on May 9, 2016, with respect to a workplace located at 112 Ward St., Elida, Ohio 45807.      To abate this hazard, the employer must ensure that electrical equipment located in Class II locations are either intrinsically safe, approved for the Class II location, or safe for the Class II location.  Changes in engineering controls (i.e. introduction of exhaust ventilation systems) and administrative practices (i.e. implementation of an appropriate housekeeping program) may allow for a change in classification of the hazardous (classified) locations to an unclassified location.
