29 CFR 1926.100(a): Employees working in areas where there is a possible danger of head injury from impact, or from falling or flying objects, or from electrical shock and burns, shall be protected by protective helmets.  On or about November 2, 2016, employees performing residential framing operations were exposed to struck by hazards while employees handed plywood sheets to the upper level from the ground level.  The employer failed to mandate the use of hard hats.    Abatement certification is required of this item in accordance with requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c).

29 CFR 1926.102(a)(1): Employees shall be provided with eye and face protection equipment when machines or operations present potential eye or face injury from physical, chemical, or radiation agents.  On or about November 2, 2016, employees performing residential framing operations were exposed to eye and face injuries while they operated power tools and the employer failed to ensure they were provided with eye and face protection.   The employer was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1926.102(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1113642, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on March 8, 2016, with respect to a workplace located at 3646 Ancient Oak Dr., Elgin, Illinois 60124.  Abatement certification is required of this item in accordance with requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c).

29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13): Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system unless another provision in paragraph (b) of this section provides for an alternative fall protection measure.  On or about November 2, 2016, employees performing residential framing operations were exposed to a 13.5 foot fall when the employer failed to ensure that fall protection was utilized.   The employer was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1113642, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on March 8, 2016, with respect to a workplace located at 3646 Ancient Oak Dr., Elgin, Illinois 60124.  Abatement documentation is required of this item in accordance with requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
